Housing

Housing problems can be complex and difficult to manage alone. You may be having problems keeping up with your mortgage payments, experiencing problems with your landlord, or simply having difficulties finding a place to live.

We can help you understand your rights and responsibilities and the steps you need to take to help avoid losing your home.

We may be able to represent you in court if you are faced with eviction, through our Mortgage Repossession Service - see below.

Mortgage Repossession

Our advisors, based in Birmingham County Court, help people who attend possession proceedings due to mortgage arrears and are facing losing their home.

Everyone is entitled to be represented and we can put forward your case in court, on your behalf. We have a high success rate. In 2020-21, 83% of the people we helped were able to remain in their homes.

We can also provide information and advice to help you to avoid facing this situation in the future.

You can also seek help from Shelter, through its helpline 0808 800 4444 (calls are free of charge from UK landlines and all major UK mobile operators) or by visiting its Birmingham office - call 0344 515 1800 for their opening times.  Or look online at their website.
